I bought this ww2 sword on ebay )item: 380762660383) and seller said the blade has no chips, he used out of focus pictures and not shown the part where the damages are.
I pictured the edge, it is full of nicks, one is so deep the cut out steel hangs partly on the side of the edge turned out. He is saying it is minty for its age, but there is a lot of ww2 sword in mint , undamaged conditions and surely these are bad chips, and he said there is none.
Do you think he is wrong and misleading?
I want to open an ebay dispute against him.
regards
Peter
not bad overall, maybe
The listing says "near mint", not "minty" - I don't think there are clear definitions of words like that.
I agree that "no chips" is not accurate. But if he is not a sword collector, and looks at it from a few feet away, he could say "I don't see any chips or damage". Everything is relative. Almost any blade has imperfections, if you look close enough. How close did he look?
Did he lie? Perhaps.
Did he exaggerate? Probably.
But you bought it without clear pictures of the edge...
Pete
In private email he said
In private email he said there are no nicks whatsoever, the largest nick is huge, a chunk is missing, surely anyone can see. Minty? full of rust and residue, scratches and lot of nicks, the tip is bad too.
A minty blade is a very good condition with minor scratch or ligth staining spots, this is rather a junk category. I bought many swords and I know this seller misrepresented the item and purposly missed the parts on the pictures where the worst areas are.

Ok
OK, very good - it sounds like you already knew that he misrepresented it, and you have some evidence to support your case.
So what is the question for the rest of us?
I assume you sent him pictures of the problems.
Did he say:
"That chip was not there when I mailed it."
"That is not a chip".
"I told you that it had chips".
"My eyesight is very bad - I can't see anything that small". :-)
Etc.?
Pete
I opened a dispute now
I opened a dispute now because first he said there were no chips, I asked him if I can send him pictures to show the chips, he refused and called me a blackmailer. After I opened the ebay dispute I uploaded the pictures, still he says these are not chips and the blade is in very good condition.
He does not want to talk about the damages or the item, he rather calling me a fraudster and that I blackmailed him as I wanted a partial refund for the damages not mentioned but I also offered him a return for a full refund before opening a dispute, so I gae him a choice which one he wants, but he is telling ebay I blackmailed him, arrogant man.
Peter
I won the dispute already, I
I won the dispute already, I can return the item now, all good.
