Request for help identifying smith: Setsu no Kami Hiromitsu 摂津守廣光

Hello everyone,

I’m hoping to get some help from the community in learning more about the smith associated with a sword I recently purchased.

The sword was bought from a dealer in Japan and is attributed to Setsu no Kami Hiromitsu (摂津守廣光). According to the dealer, the details are as follows:

Period: Northern and Southern Courts Period (Nanbokuchō)

School: Sagami-den

Possibly connected to one of the disciples of Masamune

I’m aware that the last part may well be a bit of a salesman’s pitch, so I’m taking that claim with a grain of salt. That said, I’d really like to better understand what can realistically be learned from this attribution.

Specifically, I’m curious about:

Which Hiromitsu this title most likely refers to

Whether a Sagami-den attribution makes sense in this context

How plausible (or implausible) a connection to Masamune’s circle might be

What distinguishing characteristics I should be looking for to better assess the blade

I’ve attached an image of the registration/documentation for reference and can provide additional photos of the blade if that would help.

Thanks in advance for any insights or guidance I’m very much still learning and would appreciate any direction you can offer.
