Soshu Sadamune (Kenmu): The O-Tanto features a hitatsura hamon.
A similar blade was passed down within the Tokugawa family and is listed in the Kyoho Meibutsucho. It is known as "Nagamei Sadamune" and bears the same inscription. Only the month was the 8th. The blade is considered lost. Whether the signature was engraved later is possible. Honami Tenrai, in the sayagaki, assumes it is a genuine signature (在銘). In any case, it is an outstanding Soshu piece.
