江村作 emura saku
Biography and lineageWarden of Okayama prison. Chounsai, the Go of Emura, was used by smiths from Kochi associated with Chounsai Kunimitsu (KUN524) line of smiths [1]. There used to be a false belief that Emura and Nagamitsu was the same person. See [2] for details. More information about Emura can be found in Chounsai Emura article in Japanese Sword Index. Emura
Record is correct. However this is NOT the same smith
as Nag 296. Emura was head of the Okayama Prison.
He also signed Chounsai Emura and Bishu Chounsai Emura
and sometimes just "E". There are also two different forms
of the "mura" Kanji used by him.
See my webpages on Emura, Nagamitsu and why the
confusion arose.
