Biography and lineage

Commonly, Takagi Sadamune is considered a poorer version of Sōshū Sadamune and his works are very rare. Those that are encountered are mostly tanto.

Workmanship and style [1]

Shape and construction

Hira-zukuri ko-wakizashi or chukan-zori tanto with wide mihaba, thin kasane and the mune in shin-no-mune.

Horimono

Most of the works will have carvings such as ken-maki-ryu of so design, ken with dokko or tsume, bonji and goma-hashi.

At times there will be swords with katana-hi carved near the mune.

Hamon

The hamon is worked in nie with the pattern in ko-midare, notare-midare or o-midare. In all cases there will be nie kuzure.

Jitetsu and hada

The grain of the steel will be in ko-mokume hada with ō-hada mixed in. The steel will seem 'weak'. There will be ji-nie like effects.
