According to the old records he was active around Bunna (1352) [1].
He was originally from Sasshū Naminohira, lived in Kyoto Aya no Koji [2]. His earlier signature was Masamune 正宗. Then he changed his name to Daruma after becoming a lay priest. Shigemitsu is the founder of Daruma group.
