Signed with large two character mei.
Buddhist name is Ryōami [1]. Around Oei (1394) Masamitsu moved to Mino Hachiya together with his student Kanesada (and according to Cole [1] also with his father, Shigemitsu).
Some sources say he signed Masamune 正宗 later [2][3], but this may be in regards to the second generation, when they moved to Mino.
Made wide katakiriba tanto. Itame, large midare, notare, gunome, suguba. His style resembles Sōshū Hiromitsu.
